A telenovela about love, betrayal and global warming. Environmental campaigns often use the same formula: shocking facts and overwhelming messages that leave people paralyzed. With Muy Caliente, we chose a different path—using humor, emotion, and the familiar tropes of a Mexican soap opera to tell a devastating climate story. The plot? A lovelorn fisherman forced to leave his fiancée behind as the ocean changes, only to be betrayed by his best friend. But this wasn't fiction; it reflected the reality of black-browed albatrosses, longtime partners who are now "divorcing" because of warming seas.
